Rare cells include basophil, plasmacytoid dendritic cell (pDC), and mast cell. CD34, HLA-DR, CD117, and CD45 are used to map myeloid precursors' differentiation pathway. CD123 is the common identification marker for basophil and pDC identifications. HLA-DR, CD4, or CD203 are used to distinguish basophil and pDC. It will help to diagnose basophilic leukemia, and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm. Bright CD117 is the mast cell's identification marker. Together with CD25, it helps the systemic mastocytosis diagnosis.
